Anything can happen if you let it...
Seems like a social problem of Brazil, where the rich pay taxes abusive to stabilize the slums. No one in slums pay light, water. So this painting reminds me that the rich (more characterized as blond with blue eyes) carry the lower class on the back. They work to keep us.
Another view is that we carry the world and its problems. GREAT! I loved the design!

The colours are wonderful, the blues are very moody and melancholy. I like the way that the image is quite desaturated, I feel it contributes to this feeling of gloom. The pale skin and hair of the character also look great, and again they help convey the feeling. The composition also is working very well for me, especially the way in which the buildings in the characters bag seem to be bearing down on him. I also like the way that the curve of his back accentuates this concept.
The character himself is amazingly rendered, his face is stunning, the emotion it is conveying is very powerful to me. I like the way he's carrying a whole little world on his shoulders, and how the shadows living in his backpack relate to the title. All in all, I can't get over how this painting makes me feel, I just keep coming back to looking at it, and I'm really really glad I found it here! It must be even more amazing in real life!
